Earlier this February, Maggie Speaks teamed up with sister group Talk of the Town Big Band to perform at the Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers 28th Annual Crystal Heart Ball. Held at the Field Museum, more than 660 guests danced the night away in the scenic main hall. This unique fundraising gala helped Little Company of Mary raise nearly $400,000 to help support LCMH Interventional Radiology Services. We were so grateful to be a part of this amazing event and share the stage with emcees Nancy Loo and Patrick Elwood of WGN TV.
Maggie Speaks also had the distinct pleasure of traveling down to One & Only Palmilla for clients Richard and Morgan, performing at their beautiful destination wedding in Los Cabos, Mexico. The band had played Morgan’s brother’s wedding in Chicago a few years back and Morgan felt that if she was asking her friends and family to pay to travel to Los Cabos that she had to splurge on the best entertainment possible for them, which led her to Maggie Speaks. While in Los Cabos, the band met some truly spectacular people. There was an amazing Mexican Quartet performing during the cocktail hour that especially blew the band away.
The frontman was singing perfectly in English; however, when Maggie Speaks went to tell him how much they appreciated his music, they found he did not speak a word of English. To find discover that he could sing so fluently without speaking the language was astounding. From meeting many great people, to a breathtaking location, to a unexpected musical performance from Richard’s daughter Janey, this was truly a special occasion. Richard’s daughter worked up a surprise ukulele performance with them singing “Can’t Help Falling In Love” to her new mom that left the room speechless.
For our bands, these are some of the moments that are remembered most. Having the opportunity to make a lasting impact on client’s lives keeps our groups inspired and loving their work.
