Do you travel for destination weddings and weddings outside of the Chicagoland area or Illinois?

We certainly do. Throughout our history Maggie Speaks has performed in 13 different countries and 33 different states. Specifically for weddings, we have performed in locations such as Los Cabos, Mexico, Hawaii, Florida, Las Vegas, Indiana, Michigan, Wisconsin, Iowa, New York, Ohio, Missouri, Wyoming, California and more.

What is the cost for a wedding for Maggie Speaks?

Pricing is always dependent on a multitude of factors, including the location, date, timing, size of the band, level of customization and any travel involved. For Maggie Speaks, our packages typically begin in the $7,500 range and grow depending on the scope of your event. Our consultants are happy to work through your details and ideas to provide an accurate quote that encompasses your vision.

Do you have other options if Maggie Speaks is unavailable for our wedding date?

Yes. Maggie Speaks has created five bands in our musical family, including Spoken Four, Final Say, Shout Out and Enough Said. Pricing for our other bands depends on the same factors as above including which band you select. We have some options that begin in the $5,000-6,500 range.

Do I have different options in terms of size and configuration with the Maggie Speaks’ bands?

Yes. All of our core bands begin at 5 pieces, consisting of a male and female vocalist, bass, drums and guitar. From there many people add our hip-hop artist to capture the direction of modern music, extra vocalists for increased variety of voices and then graduate into our big band model, Talk of the Town, for live horns, strings and keys. Essentially, our bands typically range from 5 to 15 pieces.

Do your 5-piece bands provide a big full sound that will pack my dance floor?

The answer is a resounding yes. We pride ourselves in performing the songs exactly the way the original artists recorded them with all the nuances you have grown accustomed to hearing. After all, this is the soundtrack to one of the biggest days of your life. Like almost all national touring artists, we create our own custom tracks to fly in all of the modern loops, auxiliary instruments and effects that give you the most authentic experience available.

What is involved with the booking process for my wedding?

We try and make it as simple as possible. Inquire on our website, via phone at (815) 230-3770 or via email and one of our sales consultants will get back to you right away. It is always our preferred method to speak with you live over the phone as part of the process of getting to know you, your personality, in order to understand your dreams and visions so we can build the perfect evening for your big night. Weddings are a once in a lifetime event and there are no do-overs, so it is important that we make everything perfect. With that said, we do understand that time can be a factor in today’s busy world, so we are happy to also work via email and also have after hours calls available by appointment. We also have an extensive video library of live performances and informative interviews with our band leaders so you can gain comfort in our musical and event expertise.

One of our consultants will provide a quote tailored for your event. Price quotes are guaranteed for 15 days.

Once you select one of the bands in the Maggie Speaks musical family, we will get a few pieces of key information on your event (date, location, times and signatory on the contract) and email you the contract. We ask that all contracts be returned within 3 business days and that all deposits are due within 10 business days. A fifty percent (50%) deposit is required. The balance of fifty percent (50%) is due on the day of the wedding prior to performance. We take checks, money orders, cash and most major credit cards (a 4% fee is charged for all credit cards).

When your date is secured, you are introduced via email to your band leader for the evening that will handle all of your planning details, including your timing, announcements and song selection. Most people start their intense final planning about 4-6 weeks prior to their wedding but know that our band leaders and sales team are there and available throughout the process for any questions that may come up ahead of time.

Will you hold my date?

The only way to officially secure a date is through a signed contract and deposit. Due to the volume of inquiries we get for weddings, the process of holding dates for potential clients is too difficult to manage effectively.

Can you help us with ceremony, cocktail and dinner music?

Of course. We have great live music options that include string ensembles, jazz combos, DJs, acoustic performances and other entertainment options. We typically have great videos that accompany these options. If you don’t see something you are looking for, just ask. If it doesn’t exist, we can likely create it.

Have you performed at same sex marriages before?

Yes. We believe in equality and do not discriminate in any way shape or form. We believe that everyone in the world should be united with their soulmate and we take great pride in providing the soundtrack for your perfect night.

What sets your apart from your competition?

Experience and versatility, plain and simple. Maggie Speaks has performed over 3,500 shows over the past 21 years with well over 600 weddings. We also created and own 5 other bands – Spoken Four, Final Say, Shout Out, Enough Said and Talk of the Town – and we collectively do about 125 weddings a year which gives us thousands of weddings over our life span. We travel extensively around the world for high pressured, highly creative private events as well. We do a lot of customization for our clients, giving us a huge repertoire of material to choose from. Having this type of experience gives our clients confidence and assurance that their event will be executed flawlessly. Remember, there are no do-overs on once in a lifetime events.

Do I get to pick all of the songs that are played throughout the night?

Each couple is different in their approach toward the music at their wedding. We find that the best efforts are always the most collaborative, incorporating your personality and tastes with our expertise as to what will pack the dance floor. Performing over 500 shows a year as a company allows us the opportunity to test out material so that we can gauge its impact before we perform it at your wedding. We like to play chess and not checkers. Our band leaders are truly experts at reading a room and calling a show. We like to think about where we are going to take your audience over the next 30 minutes instead of thinking about what we will do next. With that said, we are all about making sure you have just the right amount of input that you are seeking. After all, it is your big night and we want you to have the time of your lives.

Are you insured?

Yes, we are fully insured.

What do you wear for weddings?

The band always looks professional on the band stand. We work with each couple to determine the vibe they want created for the evening. From black ties, to more casual weddings, we have played them all and always dress the part to give your event the vibe and feel you are looking for.

Will you emcee our wedding and handle all of the announcements?

Yes. Our band leaders typically perform this function and make sure that all of your important moments are executed flawlessly.

Do you work with wedding planners or consultants?

We have outstanding relationships with wedding planners and consultants. We act as a partner with them to make sure that all of your planning is properly executed so your visions and dreams become a reality.

What is your substitution policy with regards to your band members?

We take this question seriously and try to provide you with an honest, real and practical answer. We do not substitute band members unless there are life events beyond anyone’s control such as illness, injury, or life events such as family weddings, graduations, etc. that would prevent one of our performers from being available. These are things that everyone in life has to contend with. Part of the beauty of our organization is that we have multiple bands with another layer of understudies available in these rare occurrences. In short, it is not something that any of our clients should worry about, but they should also be comforted that if something beyond anyone’s control happens, we will always have a backup plan to make sure your event is unaffected. We also have a tremendous amount of stability in our personnel and we rarely have personnel changes in our groups.

What is the planning process like?

We have a questionnaire that we send you that can walk you through all of the elements we need to be aware of in order to execute your wedding to perfection. Our band leaders also work with our couples in multiple different ways so that they are comfortable. We can handle things via email, phone, Skype or video calls and face to face meetings, if necessary. We are there for you and our goal is to make sure you are comfortable and go into your wedding knowing that we have all of the details planned in advance so you can just sit back and enjoy the experience.

Can we hear you play?

Yes. Collectively, the bands in the Maggie Speaks musical family perform over 500 shows annually, so there are many opportunities to come hear the bands play. We highly recommend that you attend a show that is open to the public. At a public show, you can stay as long as you would like and get the full experience and variety that our bands have to offer. All of our public dates can be found on the band’s websites. By design, our bands Talk of the Town Big Band and Enough Said performs almost exclusively at private engagements so the videos are a great representation of their live performance and we will certainly do our best to schedule a viewing at one of our private engagements, if necessary.

I am concerned that a live band will be too loud. Are you able to play at a reasonable volume?

Yes. Each of our bands travel with a dedicated sound engineer that is in charge of mixing the band at a level appropriate for each event. We share the same concerns that you do. We want the guests to have an enjoyable and pleasurable experience. Making sure we control the volume is a key component to that. Some bands try and run their own sound from the stage. If you are onstage, you cannot hear what it is like out front. Our engineers are able to hear what the guests are hearing and make the necessary adjustments. Our use of in-ear monitors also eliminates the need for noisy stage wedges that increase volume and are aesthetically unpleasing.

What is your cancellation policy?

If a performance is canceled by the Purchaser for any reason before one hundred eighty (180) days prior to the event date, the deposit will be nonrefundable unless an event of equal value can be secured upon written notice of cancellation by Purchaser. We will make every attempt in good faith to secure a replacement event. In the event that a replacement event is secured of equal value, the Purchaser will be entitled to a refund of all monies paid less ten percent (10%) of the agreement price which will be non-refundable and shall serve as an administrative fee. If the performance is cancelled by the Purchaser for any reason within one hundred eighty (180) days prior to the event, the remaining balance due on the Agreement will be due unless we secure a performance of equal or greater value for that same date and time. The Purchaser will be responsible for the difference in Agreement prices if the value of the new agreement is less than the original, plus ten percent (10%) administrative fee.

Other than the stated contract price, is there anything else that I need to provide for the band?

We kindly ask that a meal and any applicable parking fees be included for the band members. We can make these arrangements during the advanced planning process.

Are you able to perform Ethnic Music?

We perform at many Jewish weddings and do the Hora often. We have also work with our clients to understand if there is any other ethnic music that you want played at your wedding. If we can do it live, then we certainly will. If not, we can always arrange to have it available on an iPod to play during a break.

How much room and power do you need?

We typically ask for an area of 16’ wide by 12’ deep for our 5-piece bands. For Talk of the Town Big Band, we usually ask for a double tiered stage that is 32’ wide x 16’ deep. More area is always appreciated and less can typically be accommodated as well. We typically ask for 3 to 4 dedicated 20-amp (standard wall outlets) circuits near the stage.

Can you accommodate a special guest performer at my wedding?

From time to time, we are asked if someone can sit in with the band to sing or play an instrument. We do our best to accommodate these requests if specifically made by the bride and groom in advance of the wedding. The more notice we have, the better.

Do you travel for corporate events outside of the Chicagoland area or Illinois?

We certainly do. Throughout our history Maggie Speaks has performed in 13 different countries and 33 different states. Specifically, for corporate events we have been to Shanghai, Sydney, Rome, Venice, Monte Carlo, Barcelona, Istanbul, Costa Rica, Mexico, Canada and Hawaii to name a few.
